ELIM FC Bootle V AOB Jacobs

Teams: AJ(gk), Lego, "Fanny" Jackson, Austin, Nath, Cliffy, Ross, Spud, Jamey, Gaz(c), Nails
Subs: DWood, Craig and Kingy

Yes I know, a team fighting at the top of the league and Gaz played!!! It probably had something to do with the gaffer playing and Gaz fancied a little perv in the changies...come back Gill, we miss the flossing! Anyway, we knew it wasn't going to be a good day before we even got changed. Opening the kit bag, we were met with damp and cold kits. Thanks Si, you massive bellend. He also made sure he wasn't around too, so Austin slotted into centre back. With Craig wasting his money around Europe, Nails started up front until the pisshead arrived straight for the airport.

Within minutes Nails had played through Gaz, his delightful through ball sent the Archies skipper in on goal, but all he could do was stumble and stagger before belly flopping in the penalty area and meekly appealing for a penalty. Not given.

In the early exchanges, Archies peppered the opponent’s goal with shots from the edge of the box. Ross and Gaz both going close but failing to hit the target. On the break, Bootle played their forward in and Lego put in an awesome challenge, it was fruitless. The ball ricocheted back off the forward right into his path and he was able to slot it into the bottom corner before running off and sliding in front of the adoring thousands of Bootle FC fans by the corner flag....really. 0-1

Archies continued to push and a good chance fell Nails' way. After some good passing down the Archies right the ball broke to Nails just inside the far right of the Bootle box who swiftly, yes swiftly, turned and unleashed a thunderous shot with the outside of his boot, honestly if you were there and blinked you would've missed it, it actually left a flame trail like the DeLoren! Unfortunately, it went narrowly wide, hands on head time.

HT 0-1

God knows what happened in the second half, despite being a goal down Archies has played quite well. The second half was another matter. Archies lost their way and didn't really threaten the opponent’s goal until the latter stages of the match. By then it was far too late. Bootle had scored a 2nd. The striker was given too much time at the edge of the box and turned and blasted a shot off towards goal. It hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced down on the line. However, the goal was given. The sooner the Christian League introduce goal line technology the better. The fact they haven't so far it criminal! 0-2

Early in the first half, AJ had landed on Jay Jackson, "hurting" Jay's shoulder. So early in the second half he cried and whined until being substituted and replaced by Kingy in an attacking move to get back into the game. Not long after Nails was replaced by Craig, the smell of booze immediately wafted across the pitch.

Archies dominated the final twenty minutes but couldn't make their possession count. Bootle continued to play on the break and nearly capitalised after the Archies keeper came up for a corner. However, only one man was behind the ball, offside!

The second half was pretty much a dire affair with not much happening in the way of goalscoring chances. An improved performance next week will be needed by everyone if a shock is to be made and Archies knock out a team from the division above in the cup competition.

Highlight of the match: Seeing Simons Pegg's good friend, Nick Frost, playing on the right wing for Bootle.

FT 0-2

MOTM: Austin
